Splashy Poolside Flicks Roll at Mr. C

It must be summer, or nearly, if this Beverly Hills series is back on the schedule.

THE THING WITH LA, and this is probably a thing with other major movie-mondo megalopolises, is this: There are whole buncha-buncha ways to take in blockbuster classics, funky cult flicks, and the like. You can go to a first-run movie house, a historic movie palace, a second-run double-feature cinema, a special rooftop, a special park, and, yes, the occasional cemetery should you crave some time spent watching a favorite or new-to-you movie. But plunking down and watching the credits roll poolside? Sure, you can watch a film on your tablet, from your towel or lounger, if your headphones are on, but the communal, pool-close movie-enjoying experience is still pretty rare, even in our pool-tastic, movie-laden city. There is, however, a place that delivers on that alluring promise each summer, and it is again ready to deliver movies just steps away from where people swim. It's Mr. C Beverly Hills we speak of, and the annual...

POOLSIDE CINEMA SERIES... will bring summery delight beginning on Tuesday, June 5. In fact, the series will run every Tuesday, from June 5 through Aug. 28, and that's nice, as Tuesdays can sometimes be a little quiet, compared to other weekdays (Thursday is the event-packed powerhouse, yes, but even Monday sees some go-out action). The first film of 2018 is "Almost Famous," the final film is "The Goonies," and you can bet a lot of well-loved favorites from years gone by made the new schedule. Adding to it all? Mr. C's Cinema Prix-Fixe Menu, which means you can nosh on "Cipriani classics" like the Pizza Mr. C with Burrata while taking in a film (and purchasing this option in advance gives you the opportunity to "pre-reserve" your seat). All of the lovely details? Hold fast, pool people who also dig movies: Your ultimate seasonal cinema is about to make a splash.
