Sunset Stunner: Sierra Gondola Night

Tickets for the Sunset Summit Party are now on sale.

IF YOU'RE AT THE TOP... of Mammoth Mountain, chances are solid that you're wearing a pair of goggles, and wielding some poles, or you're holding your board, and there's a lot of snow around, and you're preparing to do some more zooming of the gravitational, higher-to-lower sort. But there's another way to get acquainted with the summit is in the summertime, at a special evening event. It's the 11,053' Summit Sunset Party, and it is all about soaking up the long, long views while bidding our nearest star a goodnight.

OH YES, AND THERE'S FOOD... to purchase up there, after you take the Panorama Gondola up, and places to buy drinks, and there are activities, too, like "...a lighted glow walk to the Lakes Basin Overlook." Tunes'll do that serenading thing, and the beautiful Minarets? They're right there for you to admire. Well, not "right there," of course, but in the not-so-far distance, and they'll be as pointing and gargantuan and calendar-pretty as they've always been.

TICKETS ARE NOW ON SALE... for the rare treats, so choose your night: Saturday, Aug. 12 or Saturday, Sept. 2. A ticket is $29 for an adult and free for kids 12 and under. And if you happen to be a Cali4nia Passholder? You're part of the nighttime fun for just fifteen bucks. Soon you'll be schussing again, down the flake-filled mountain, but take time to soak in the moon and the sun from way, way up on a, fingers and ski poles crossed, clear summer night.
