Vintners' Holidays at The Ahwahnee

AUTUMN TRADITION: Of all the great fall wine events around California -- and there are many, in all of our various wine countries -- one of the toniest and tastiest happens in a valley that isn't known for its grapes. It is known for a giant sheer rock face called El Capitan, and Half Dome, and one of the world's most famous lodges, The Ahwahnee. Oh, did we say The Ahwahnee? Why we did. We're coying referring to the Yosemite hotel's Vintners' Holidays, an autumn tradition that will mark year 30 in 2011. And the libation-y line-up was just announced.

ON THE ROSTER: David Duncan of Twomey Cellars will appear at session one, which is happening from Nov. 6th through 8th; Milla Handley of Handley Cellars will be at the Nov. 27 through 29 confab. If you're familiar with the Vintners' Holidays, you know that there are just over a half dozen session and each session features winemakers representing various labels and houses. There are multi-night stay-over packages at both The Ahwahnee and Yosemite Lodge at The Falls.

2011 DATES: The eight three-day sessions will happen from Nov. 6 through Dec. 8 (and happen pretty briskly, we'll add, with nary a day or two between each).
