The unplug-unwind destination will open in early June 2018.

"UNWIND" OR "UNPLUG"? We modern-day livers of life use both terms in a fairly interchangeable way, with "unwind" taking more of the general "we're too stressed" load and "unplug" dealing with our desire to step away from alerts and feeds for a day. Either way, unwinding or unplugging — or unwinding *and* unplugging — can inspire a person to return to their work, their errands, their 19 different roles with more vigor and can-do. And while such unwinding/unplugging can be done just about anywhere a person commits to doing so, there are those special spots around the Golden State that have earned a reputation as being great places for renewal, reflection, and communing with nature. FRIDAY, JUNE 8, 2018: That's when the guest ranch opens for the season, "weather permitting," and a brand-new Romantic Rendezvous Picnic Package is being introduced. Actually, there are three fresh picnic packages to choose from — the Sunrise to Sunset Couples Picnic Package, the Moonlight Couples Picnic Package, and the Sweetheart Couples Horseback Riding Picnic Package — so you'll likely want to make your choice based on the activities you choose. While all of the packages are a bit different, and have different prices, each includes local wine or bubbly. And we weren't pulling your leg about the unwind/unplug part: The majority of the accommodations have oodles of charm but no electricity. Call it that desired quiet time we rarely find on the go-go-go, with a hefty dose of old-school quaintness.
