Adoptable Animal Evacuees from Hurricane Irma

Tony La Russa’s Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF), along with partners from the East Bay SPCA and Berkeley Humane will receive a flight transporting adoptable animals from Humane Society of Broward County in Ft. Lauderdale Florida at 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 7 at the APP Jet Center in Hayward. The evacuated animals will be available for adoption throughout the three East Bay Shelters in an effort to clear the shelter of their Florida rescue partner prior to arrival of Hurricane Irma. The flight is manned by rescue partner Wings of Rescue and supported by greatergood.org
While final animal manifest counts may fluctuate, the Bay Area rescue organizations anticipate receiving approximately 250 dogs and cats currently available for adoption in Broward County. This opens space for displaced pets in the state of Florida as a result of the hurricane and allows for more robust rescue operations.
