The all-volunteer, San Jose-based Guitars Not Guns Program is in its third week at Family Supportive Housing. This eight-week workshop is for a group of students from the Shelter's Homework Enrichment Program. A fun activity with a serious purpose, the workshop offers free guitars and lessons, as an innovative way to encourage children and teens to tap into their creativity, to practice skill development and perseverance, and to seek alternatives to drugs, alcohol and gang-related activities. Students who complete the full eight-week program are allowed to keep the guitar!
The Guitars Not Guns Music Program 's message to youth is, Believe in yourself and you can accomplish anything.
