The San Francisco Japanese American Citizens League (SF JACL) presents Hold These Truths, a strong and timely message about civil rights, the Constitution, and one man's battle against civil liberty violations. Written by playwright, Jeanne Sakata, the story of Gordon Hirabayashi, and his heroic challenge to injustice endures as a constant reminder of the desperate need for courage at times of national crisis.
The story of University of Washington student Gordon Hirabayashi is performed by Bay Area actor Greg Watanabe, known from his performances with the Asian American Theater Company and fresh from his Broadway debut in George Takei’s Allegiance.
Proceeds from the performance will benefit the SF JACL’s Arts and Advocacy activism programs and anti-bullying education.
