“Something From Nothing” Art Gallery

The Thacher Gallery at the University of San Francisco will open the fall 2017 season with an exhibition featuring over 100 handcrafted pieces created by Japanese American prisoners during World War II.

The show, beginning on August 21 called "Something From Nothing: Art and Handcrafted Objects from America’s Concentration Camps," will also feature two contemporary art installations by local Bay Area artists Barbara Horiuchi and Marlene Iyemura. Exhibit highlights will include wood carvings, shell brooches, detailed camp paintings, and functional items.
