A Conversation with Jitish Kallat:

The Asian Art Museum welcomes artist Jitish Kallat to discuss his art and curatorship of the 2014 Kochi-Muziris Biennale, an international exhibition of contemporary art help in Kerala, India.

In conversation with Dr. Karin Oen, assistant curator of contemporary art, Kallat will discuss the various themes and ideas that recur throughout his wide-ranging artistic practice.

Tula - Balance of Life:

The Ushanjali School of Dance presents Tula - Balance of Life, a unique presentation based on the "Panchabhoota" theme through classical dances and folk dances from around India. There will be live music accompaniment for some segments of the performances, along with a special performance by an artist from Nepal.

All proceeds will be donated to the non-profit organization, Sahayeta for Nepal Earthquake relief.

2015 International Taiko Festival:

The San Francisco Taiko Dojo will be holding its 2015 International Taiko Festival in San Bruno. The show will include performances from Grandmaster Seiichi Tanaka and the Sanfrancisco Taiko Dojo, the San Francisco Taiko Dojo Rising Stars, and TIffany Tamaribuchi and Sacramento Taiko Dan.

Join in the night of celebration featuring the powerful drums and pounding rhythms of taiko.

When: November 7, 7 p.m.
