Join Christina Loren at Oakland Animal Shelter on Aug 18

Oakland Animal Services is the city’s only facility that takes in any and all animals, no matter what breed or species, age, or condition. Volunteers are absolutely essential to the animals’ journey toward adoption. Volunteers receive training in how to work with dogs, cats, rabbits, and sometimes other animals in order to socialize them and to improve the quality of their lives at the shelter. Volunteers meet with potential adopters to help them find the right new pet for them to take home. Volunteers may also work in OAS’ surgery center or assist the staff with administrative tasks. Along the way, volunteers make new friends and become part of a team that is the driving force behind OAS.
