Domesticated Rats Available for Adoption at Peninsula Humane Society

A group of young domesticated rats are avaialble for adoption. The Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA (PHS/SPCA) currently has nine rats avaialble for adoption. The rates are two months old, three males and six females.
Rats make good companion animals for children. They are clean animals, like cats that they groom themselves. It is recommended to adopt rats in pairs, as they are generally happier with another rat friend, but should be separated by gender to avoid breeding. Rats are easy to care for as they do not bark or need to be let out, they eat pellets that can be found at most pet stores and enjoy fruits and vegetables as snacks.
PHS/SPCA encourages potential adopters to visit their Tom and Annette Lantos Center for Compassion at 1450 Rollins Road in Burlingame to meet the rats. Each rat’s adoption fee is $10.
People interested can call at 650-340-7022 for more information.
