Enmanji Temple Celebrates 85 Years in Sonoma County

Two weekend events will celebrate the 85th anniversary of Enmanji Temple in Sebastopol. Enmanji will host the 64th Annual Teriyaki Barbecue and Bazaar on Sunday July 8th and the Obon Odori dance on Saturday July 14th. These are two separate events, both are FREE 
and share the Japanese cultural to Sonoma County residents.
Marking this year’s anniversary, the community is invited to Enmanji’s Teriyaki Bazaar Sunday July 8th, serving barbecued teriyaki chicken lunch (hot or cold), and other Japanese delicacies including made-to-order imagawa yaki resembling a small stuffed pancake with a sweeten red bean filling, kushi yaki and locally made desserts. During the barbecue & bazaar, the day will be filled with cultural activities featuring an elaborate bonsai display presented by the Redwood Empire Bonsai Society, extensive outdoor plant sale, Ikebana flower arranging demonstration & sale, games for the kids, handicrafts & homemade jams, jellies and even delicious salted pickled plums.  For entertainment for the adults-- bingo & raffle drawing with a top prize of $1000 cash and collectible autographed items from San Francisco Giants, just to name a few. Proceeds from the Teriyaki Bazaar will support the local Enmanji Buddhist Temple and community activities. The Teriyaki Chicken plate features half of a chicken, steamed white rice, homemade potato salad, tea and fortune cookie all for $13. 
Obon Odori will be held the following week on Saturday evening, July 14. Community dance will take place on the temple grounds. Dance practices will be held Tuesday-Friday July 10-13 from 7-9PM in the community hall. Cultural attire is welcome.
