The Buu Kim Tu Dragon and Lion Dance Association puts on a preview of what to expect at the Children's Discovery Museum's Lantern Festival: Play by the Light of the Moon. (Published Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2015)

The Children's Discovery Museum of San Jose presents its Lantern Festival: Play by the Light of the Moon, Saturday, September 26 from 5:30-8:30 p.m.

Families will gather in the evening at the museum to celebrate the harvest season at the third annual festival.

The mid-autumn festival traditionally celebrated by Chinese and Vietnamese cultures will feature activities, performances and culminate in a parade. Children will make and launch rockets, create a variety of lanterns, taste traditional moon cakes and be captivated by storytellers.

Guests will even have the chance to ride an authentic Vietnamese xich lo (seek-lo), a bicycle rickshaw.

With glowing lanterns in hand, visitors will parade around Discovery Meadow, led by a lively lion dance group, and the custom museum purple xick lo carrying the parade leader.

    When: September 26, 5:30-8:30 p.m.

Where: Children's Discovery Museum - 180 Woz Way, San Jose
