Join in celebrating the Petaluma Train Depot's centennial anniversary! The whole community is invited to raise a glass in a champagne toast to one of Petaluma's iconic historical landmarks. The celebration will precede the Northwestern Pacific Railroad Golden Spike Centennial Celebration, to be held just across the way at East Washington and Baylis Streets from 12-4 PM.
Activities for the celebration will include taking a closer look at a working locomotive and cupola of a caboose, ride a speeder (slowly) down an isolated side track, take a guided tour of the rail cars being restored, chat with a railroad engineer, and more! Bring the whole family and have your family's picture taken while waving at the locomotive, with free prints on-site. Entrance to the event and off-street parking are free, and the event will provide free refreshments for attendees.
The Northwestern Pacific Railroad Historical Society (NWPRRHS) was founded thirty years ago. It is dedicated to preserving the rich and colorful heritage of Redwood Empire railroading. We accomplish this through acquisition, preservation and display efforts as well as through gathering oral histories of people who have contributed to our regional history.
