Carrie Fisher Working Out For New ‘Star Wars' Role

Physical fitness is key component of Leia reprisal

Cue the slave Leia and metal bikini references.

Carrie Fisher is "reportedly trying to slim down" for her role as the "iconic Princess Leia" in the upcoming latest installment of "Star Wars," according to the San Jose Mercury News.

The actress, 56, has had her career defined by her turn as the heroine in the original trilogy -- a "highlight" of which was the scenes in which she donned a "metal bikini" in Jabba the Hutt's palace.

"I'm glad they are doing a new movie because they are sending a trainer to my house so I can get in really good shape," Fisher told the Calgary Herald. "So I'm really eating a lot of sugar in advance, as you can see. By the time I really get down to it, I will have eaten everything."

Fisher has adopted a sense of humor about the situation. Fisher is a fan of Disney, the new owner of the Star Wars franchise following George Lucas's multi-billion dollar sale.

"I like being bought by Disney, because they never wanted to buy me before," she said.
