The East Bay's latest answer to Wine Country starts within Oakland city limits.
Don't expect palatial estates with free-flowing grapes, as one might find in Sonoma or Mendocino counties, though; Visit Oakland's new Oakland Urban Wine Trail site and map is more of a warehouse hop than a vineyard crawl.
The map notes 10 distinct wineries, all located within close proximity for walking, biking or a short drive. Their locations are also within reasonable distance of BART, ferry and Amtrak stations.
