Courteney Cox Files for Divorce

The "Friends" actress is dropping "Arquette" from her name.

Courteney Cox and David Arquette are finalizing their divorce after first separating in 2010, People reported.

The "Friends" actress—who told People that she and Arquette have stayed "best friends" despite splitting up—filed divorce papers on the same day as Arquette's June 8 filing in Los Angeles Superior Court.

Cox, 47, cites irreconcilable differences and asks for joint legal and physical custody of their 8-year-old daughter, Coco.

The actress, who stars in the sitcom "Cougar Town" and recently appeared in "Scream 4," also requests to drop "Arquette" from her last name.

Both Cox and Arquette are representing themselves in court without lawyers.
