It may have taken 30 years but finally Labelle is back together and playing music again.
The glamorous soul trio, led by the infamous Patty LaBelle, will play the historic Paramount Theatre in Oakland this Friday at 8 p.m. Tickets for the show are still available through Ticketmaster.
Labelle, who was known for its outrageous costumes and funk music, is best remembered for its disco funk classic "Lady Marmalade."
The group was also the launching ground for Patti LaBelle's solo career and the reason the artist changed her name.
Labelle was born Patricia Holte but she changed her name to Patti LaBelle after the group became “The Bluebelles.”
The group also features the ultra talented Nona Hendryx, who wrote the group's songs, and Sarah Dash. Together the soul sisters belted out gospel harmonies and dealt with issues such as racism, sexism and eroticism in 1960s America.

Labelle's costumes drew praise and ire both when the group first came to notoriety because it was so different from what other girl groups were doing in the 1960s.
