Michael Douglas Aims to Make “Wall Street” Premiere

Actor battling throat cancer, but staying strong, says publicist

Michael Douglas is determined not to let his battle with cancer stop him from strolling the red carpet at next week's premiere of "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps."

"That's the plan," the acting icon's publicist, Allen Burry, told Popeater. "But we're literally going day-to-day as to know how much he can do."

Douglas is nearly halfway through a two-month chemotherapy regimen. Last month, he appeared on David Letterman's "Late Show" and said the treatment "knocks you out really hard." But his latest role, reprising the Gordon Gekko role he made famous nearly 25 years ago, has him motivated, said Burry.

"He would like to attend the premiere and show his support for the movie," Burry said. "He knows that's part of the job and he's proud of the movie."
