Tom Hanks Will be Your Friend if the Price is Right

Act with actor and his wife if the price is right

If the price is right, you too could stand on stage with Bay Area acting icon Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson. And for a couple of hours, at least, the Alameda-native will be your friend.

The Shakespeare Festival, a professional and community-based non-profit theater company, is auctioning off a speaking role alongside Hanks and Wilson in the 2009 Simply Shakespeare adaptation of "The Comedy of Errors."

The winner, aka the highest bidder, will participate in rehearsal, gain admission to the VIP post-show party and take a group photo with the cast, which the cast will all sign. No word on whether you will get to sign the photo as well, since you are part of the cast.

Not only will the winning bidder gets to perform with Dr. Robert Langdon himself, but you will also get to party on stage with Christina Applegate, Martin Short, Shirley Jones, Peter Graves, Arte Johnson, Eugene Levy and more.

The auction began on eBay on May 1 and will end at 7 p.m. on May 11. All proceeds from the auction will go to support the Shakespeare Festival LA and its nationally replicated summer youth employment and enrichment initiatives targeting young people living under severe economic strains.

The play will take place on Monday, May 18 at The Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles.
