5 Hurt in Shooting at Chris Brown Show

Singer slated to appear in San Diego Sunday night

Five people were shot at a California nightclub where Grammy-winner Chris Brown was performing early Sunday morning, San Jose police said.

A video clip posted to YouTube video shows a crowd of fans quickly disperse as gunshots rang out at the San Jose nightclub. The artist even posted a video to Vine showing his reaction to the gunshots.

The singer is scheduled to appear Sunday night in San Diego at the new Parq Restaurant & Nightclub, which is located in the old On Broadway location. The evening will proceed as planned, according to Parq's publicist, Larry Fink, who issued a statement addressing the club's security.

"Due to the unfortunate occurences of last night, Parq will increase security to ensure the safety of its guests," Fink told NBC 7's SoundDiego music blog.

On Sunday around 1:20 a.m., the San Jose police 911 Communications Center received a call from San Jose's Fiesta nightclub where Brown was hosting a private party.

When officers arrived they found four people with at least one gunshot wound each. The four were transported to a hospital and the fifth victim showed up at a hospital.

All five shooting victims were expected to survive, according to a spokesperson for the San Jose Police Department.

Brown escaped injury.

Police say they have detained several people. No information was immediately available Sunday on the motive in the shootings.

The event in San Diego is at a private venue so San Diego Police will be briefed on the details, according to a department spokesperson.

Lt. Kevin Mayer told NBC 7 that SDPD patrol staff and specialized teams will be working with the venue to discuss responsibilities.
