“Hilarious Women” to Star in New “Ghostbusters” Movie

A new "Ghostbusters" movie is in the works, and this time around it will star "hilarious women," its director says.

Director Paul Feig, who directed "Bridemaids" and "The Heat," tweeted the news Wednesday, although he didn't say who might be cast.

Writer Katie Dippold, who worked with Feig on "The Heat" and also wrote some episodes of NBC's "Parks and Recreation," will join to write the screenplay, Feig also confirmed.

The long-planned movie was originally supposed to be a sequel that would bring back the original "Ghostbusters" stars: Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray and Harold Ramis.

But Ramis died earlier this year, and the original director, Ivan Reitman, ditched the project back in March. Sony picked Feig for the project back in August.

The new "Ghostbusters" film won't be connected to the original series of movies.
