Comparable statements and trips to tropical destinations are a few similarities between Jennifer Aniston's splits from Justin Theroux and Brad Pitt.
The 49-year-old actress, who announced her separation from 46-year-old screenwriter and actor Theroux in a joint statement Thursday, has dealt with her fair share of public splits -- most notably her breakup from Pitt in 2005.
The wording of their announcements is strikingly alike. In both statements, the tabloid media was highlighted as something to get ahead of.
"In an effort to reduce any further speculation, we have decided to announce our separation," Aniston and Theroux's announcement stated. "This decision was mutual and lovingly made at the end of last year. We are two best friends who have decided to part ways as a couple, but look forward to continuing our cherished friendship."

It continued: "Normally we would do this privately, but given that the gossip industry cannot resist an opportunity to speculate and invent, we wanted to convey the truth directly. Whatever else is printed about us that is not directly from us, is someone else's fictional narrative. Above all, we are determined to maintain the deep respect and love that we have for one another."
The couple's statement brought back memories of the breakup announcement released by Aniston and Pitt in 2005: "We would like to announce that after seven years together we have decided to formally separate. For those who follow these sorts of things, we would like to explain that our separation is not the result of any speculation reported by the tabloid media."
Aniston and Pitt's statement continued: "This decision is the result of much thoughtful consideration. We happily remain committed and caring friends with great love and admiration for one another."
Another similarity between the divorces was the trip the couples took to tropical destinations beforehand.
Before announcing their separation, Aniston and Theroux were photographed on vacation in Cabo San Lucas during New Year's Eve. In their breakup statement, the couple revealed that the decision to end their marriage occurred "at the end of last year." So their New Year trip to Mexico would mark a final farewell.
In 2005, Aniston and Pitt visited the Caribbean and were photographed holding hands on the beach, just one day before announcing their separation.
Fans are also harkening back to Aniston and Pitt's romance, once a Hollywood power couple, with many taking to social media to point out that the two are both single at the same time.
"Somewhere, Jennifer Aniston is crafting her 'Hey, let's grab coffee and catch up' text to Brad Pit,' quipped one Twitter user.
Pitt began a relationship with actress Angelina Jolie shortly after his divorce from Aniston. While the two married in 2014, Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt in 2016.
Some fans weighed possibilities and shared hopes of a rekindling between the two.
