A man is under arrest following a carjacking on Thursday night near the set of a Denzel Washington movie being filmed near Boston’s South End.
Police say the suspect, Victor Lee, 52, of Dorchester, had stolen a woman’s purse at a nearby business a few blocks away from the area of Shawmut Avenue and Union Park Street.
While approaching the suspect, police say that Lee turned around and was holding a large knife in his hand and began coming towards officers.
After police pulled their firearms and told the suspect to stop, Lee allegedly moved away, got into a car that was stopped nearby, and tried to drive away. The driver that was inside the car was able to get out as police began to surround the vehicle.

As officers got near the car, the suspect allegedly threw his knife directly at one officer.
Unable to drive away, officers used pepper spray on Lee and took him into custody following a violent struggle.
Lee will be in court to face charges including carjacking, assault, and resisting arrest.
Lee, along with other officers at the scene, were treated for exposure to pepper spray.
This is the second time the set of Washington’s film “The Equalizer 2” has become an actual crime scene. Earlier this month, two people were arrested near the set following a non-fatal double shooting.
