Matt Lauer Celebrates 20 Years of ‘Today'

The 'Today' host now has two decades under his belt of waking up with viewers.

Wow. Where's the time gone?

Matt Lauer is celebrating 20 years of waking up at the crack of dawn as co-anchor of NBC's "Today" show. Former co-host Katie Couric noted Friday in a celebration that Lauer has conducted 10 presidential interviews, covered nine Olympics and traveled to more than 60 counties.

"It was extremely natural when Matt stepped into the chair," Couric said in a taped segment. "He just crushed it right away."

To mark the occasion the cast and crew put together a clip reel of Lauer through the years side by side with his many co-hosts, including Couric who is serving as guest host this week. Current co-host Savannah Guthrie is still on maternity leave, but was among several who tweeted their congratulations.
