Simon Cowell Talks End of “American Idol”: “We Had a Blast!”

After 14 long years and 15 seasons, "American Idol" is set to end after next season, and even former judges are saying their goodbyes.

Simon Cowell left the show in 2010, but he hasn't forgotten it—or Ryan Seacrest's first season hosting partner, Brian Dunkleman.

"We had a blast!" Cowell said In a statement obtained by E! News. "Me, Paula, Randy Ryan—and not forgetting Brian. Thanks to the fans we were able to make some great shows and found some amazing artists. Fox took a risk on a brand new show and I want to thank them for giving us the opportunity. They really were great times."

They were great times. Remember the moment when Kelly Clarkson was crowned the winner of season one, or when Sanjaya made his mark upon the world in season six?

The announcement that the show would be ending was made Monday ahead of Fox's Upfront presentation. Current judges Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr. will all be returning for what is being referred to as a celebration of the past 14 seasons.

Whether Cowell, Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson, or Brian Dunkleman will also make appearances has yet to be announced, but we're hoping for a full reunion before the show takes its final bow next year.
