    The competition got closer, the cheers got louder and the performances got more spectacular as the top eight singers on “The Voice” tested their limits and wowed the crowd on Monday night.

    Three iconic coaches returned to “The Voice” as special advisers. Usher, who won the show’s sixth season, teamed up with coach Adam Levine. Lending her talents to Team Pharrell and Team Xtina was Gwen Stefani, the singer of multi-platinum band No Doubt. And Cee Lo Green, who has five Grammys to his name, joined Team Blake.

    The top eight opened the show with a live performance of “Hey Brother,” Avicii and Dan Tyminski’s 2013 dance-floor mega-hit.

    Season 7 heartthrob Matt McAndrew returned to “The Voice” stage to perform “Counting on Love,” his new single.

    Plus: Blake Shelton took to the stage to perform his song “Sangria.”
