“Tonight Show”: Don Cheadle and Jimmy Fallon Are “Pleather and Jerry”

Don Cheadle is no stranger to 1980s music videos.

As the "House of Lies" star revealed on Friday's episode of "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," he once danced in a music video directed by famed choreographer Debbie Allen.

So it was only natural that Cheadle — who's also slated to appear this year in "Miles Ahead" as jazz great Miles Davis — reminisced about Pleather and Jerry, the (fictional) R&B duo from the (equally fictional) 1980s musical variety show "American Power Hour."

Jimmy Fallon pens thank you notes to bathroom hand dryers and other things.

"It's so funny you mention that," Fallon said, "because we always have a clip of Pleather and Jerry loaded just in case their names come up in an interview."

In a performance of "Girl, We Goin' Do It," Cheadle and Fallon donned full 80s R&B gear: Cheadle in a gold pleather trenchcoat, Fallon with a perm and gold M C Hammer parachute pants. (Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson sat in on drums.)

Jimmy Fallon challenges Liam Neeson to an arm wrestling match, during which they list all the things they’re going to do when they win.

Two other performances rounded out their repertoire: "Girl, We Just Did It" and "Girl, Let's Do It Again."

"I forgot how good looking they were," Cheadle joked, clearly winded from dancing.

"Yeah, they were like 80s heartthrobs," Fallon said.

Kate Bosworth also appeared on "Tonight." The actress talked about appearing in the upcoming movie "Still Alice" opposite Julianne Moore and being a Cowboys fan.

Lecrae, the Atlanta-based Christian rapper who has been nominated for three Grammys since he made his TV debut on "Tonight," also performed.
