Brad Pitt Brings Moneyball to Oakland Tonight

Monday the streets of Oakland will roll out the red carpet for some of Hollywood's biggest names.

The premiere of "Moneyball" at the Paramount Theatre in Oakland will bring the likes of Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Chris Pratt, Billy Beane, Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day, David Justice, Bud Selig and more to the East Bay.

The movie tells the story of Oakland Athletics' General Manager Billy Beane and his unique approach to scouting players and developing a team to keep a small market team competitive in Major League Baseball.

The movie is based on the popular Michael Lewis book of the same name.

While some baseball purists have criticized the movie for taking liberties with what actually happened behind the scenes of the A's successful -- yet championship-less early 2000 seasons -- the script, by Aaron Sorkin, who also wrote "The Social Network," has received positive reviews from critics.

The stars will begin to arrive at the theatre around 5 p.m. and the screening will take place an hour later.

The event is closed to the public.
