Carlos Santana is getting hitched to drummer Cindy Blackman. The guitar hero proposed to Blackman on stage at a concert in Tinley Park, Illinois, on July 9. "Being in love is a gift from the universe, and the spirit and vibrations that come with it are infinitely powerful," Santana told MTV.

Carlos Santana and his new bride are ready to make some sweet music together.

The legendary guitar player married jazz and rock drummer Cindy Blackman in a December ceremony in Hawaii, reports People.

Though the couple faced rain on their wedding day, they decided to embrace the conditions.

"The weather was kind of iffy, so we said, 'Let's just do it inside,'" Santana, 63, told People. "Because no matter where we did it, the sun was shining."

"Rain represents mercy," added Blackman, 51. "It couldn't have been more beautiful."

The nuptials were a star-studded affair, as talk show host George Lopez and jazz luminaries Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter - who both performed at the reception - were on hand.

Santana is best known for the Latin fusion his eponymous band pioneered in the 1960s and 70s. They made their breakthrough at Woodstock in 1969 and recorded several top 10 hits, such as "Evil Ways" and "Black Magic Woman."

Blackman was a long-time member of Lenny Kravitz's band, but has also jammed with jazz giants Pharoah Sanders, Ron Carter and Joe Henderson. She is currently the touring drummer for Santana's band and he proposed to her on stage at a concert in Illinois last July.

This is Santana's second marriage. He split with his wife of 34 years in 2007. It is the first marriage for Blackman.
