The clown lessons and ape suit must have paid off for Bristol Palin.
Sarah Palin’s daughter, aka “the Pistol,” earned another invitation back to the ballroom floor, having escaped elimination on Tuesday’s “Dancing with the Stars” despite holding the lowest score of the pack.
Even pro partner Mark Ballas said he was “surprised” that Palin’s costumed shtick to the theme from the old “Monkees” TV show was enough to keep the pair alive past the halfway point on ABC’s hit dance competition.
Former “Brady Bunch” mom Florence Henderson received no such luck, and bowed out gracefully after being told that scoring a personal best from the judges on Monday wasn’t good enough.
Bristol Palin: "I'm Too Busy" To Date
"I have been in TV for over 50 years, and I have to say in all honesty that this is one of the best-produced shows I've ever been on," Henderson said.
The 76-year-old ticked off a list of thank yous that included everyone from show judges to hosts to hair and make-up artists.
“I hope I've inspired people to get up off their behind and move and dance and live and enjoy life," she said.
“It was a tough week,” Grey said, alluding to her televised squabbles with pro Derek Hough during rehearsals for a fox trot judge Carrie Ann Inaba dissed as “out of sync.”
The same phrase could describe “Dancing” producers’ decision to pair a touching profile and performance by a family of Congolese refugees Tuesday with a trio of not-that-clever faux infomercials, including one with David “The Sledgehammer” Hasselhoff touting a “personal dance injury” law practice.

The commercials left enough time to squeeze in two Jason Derulo performances, but deny Shakira an encore after her hip-tastic rendition of “Loca.”
Other stars set to lace up their dancing shoes again next week include: Disney star Kyle Massey, ex-NFLer Kurt Warner and “Hills” star Audrina Patridge.
