Labor Day weekend is just around the corner, which means you have one last chance to enjoy the perfect summer weekend.

And what better way to close out your summer than by embarking on a Northern California road trip in a brand-new 2015 Toyota Prius? With an estimated 51 miles to the gallon, a wind-cheating aerodynamic design and loaded with next-level technology (from remote air-conditioning to a Hybrid System Indicator that assesses your driving efficiency in real-time), this year’s Prius is as fuel-efficient as it is stylish.

Not to mention affordable. Thanks to the Northern California Toyota Dealers Annual Clearance Event, you can get behind the wheel of a 2015 Prius Liftback, Prius c, or Prius v at super low prices with great financing options. Hurry, their special Labor Day offers on Prius end on September 8.

Purchasing a 2015 Prius will leave more money in your wallet and more fuel in your tank, making a Labor Day road trip a must. From fun day trips to unforgettable long weekends, Northern California offers some of the most scenic getaways.

Ahead, three of our favorite places to enjoy the final days of summer.

Big Sur

Big Sur has been inspiring artists for decades, from writers like Henry Miller and Jack Kerouac to bands like the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and you’ll undoubtedly be won over too. Dig the dramatic landscape’s unspoiled vibe by driving down Highway 1 and checking in at the rustic Treebones Resort, where yurts come with queen-size beds and endless ocean views. Hit the abundant hiking trails the next day, then treat yourself to a french dip and a basket of fries on Nepenthe's Pacific-perched terrace.

Mendocino
Mendocino might only be a little over three hours north of San Francisco, but upon arrival you’ll immediately feel like you’ve travelled back in time. A small-town American feel prevails thanks to Victorian homes, quaint shops and art galleries, while the rough Pacific adds a dramatic flair to the locale. Hit the Mendocino Art Center (an artistic haven since 1959) in the morning, then explore the coastal waters with Liquid Fusion Kayaking. Turn in for the night at the cozy Boonville Hotel, but not before having dinner at table 128, the property’s restaurant, where local, seasonal ingredients dominate the menu.

Point Reyes National Seashore
Feel like staying local, but still adding a bit of adventure to your Labor Day weekend? Look no further than Point Reyes National Seashore, less than a 40-mile drive from bustling San Francisco. Check out wildlife like elk as you hit the hiking trails (there are over 150 miles to explore!) and be sure to shuck your own oysters at Tomales Bay Oyster Company. Cap the day with dinner at Nick’s Cove, where chef Austin Perkins slings a seasonal menu of sustainable food (it’s as delicious as it is socially responsible).
