12/17: Party Like A Scientist

Plus, explore the graphic novel "Incognegro" and dig the furniture/fashion pop up gallery

INCOG: With the success of titles like Maus, Fun Home, and Persepolis, it seems graphic novels have the ability to venture into deep waters in their own visual way. Tonight Frank Wilderson discusses his graphic novel, Incognegro: A Memoir of Exile and Apartheid, a page-turning mystery that fearlessly explores race and self-image in America. Head to Books Inc. in Berkeley, tonight at 7 p.m.

PARTY WITH THE SCIENTISTS: I bet you never though those kids in your chemistry class could get down like this! Tonight the California Academy of the Sciences hosts their End-of-the-year party. Mad Science will DJ the main floor while Al Kal takes over the Aquarium. You may have missed a few bio lectures in your halcyon days, but it'd be in your best interest not to skip tonight.

FURNITURE IS SO EN VOGUE: The California College of the Arts debuts its new pop-up gallery tonight on the retail level of 74 New Montgomery. The first exhibit presents designs from the furniture and fashion programs from 5-8 p.m. Though you may be tempted, try not to wear the clothes and sit on the furniture while you admire art from the MFA program.
