12/29: Ledisi Sings In the New Year

Plus, a drive-in theater and the art world's Circle of Life

ELEMENTARY MY DEAR CAR: Ever been to an old-fashioned drive-in? If you have yet to experience the magic of watching a movie under the stars in the comfort of your own car, head to West Wind Drive-Ins and see Sherlock Holmes at 7 p.m. The best part? You can talk and laugh as loud as you want. [funcheapSF]

TURN HER LOOSE: Tonight start your New Year's Eve celebrations with the New Orleans born soul singer, Ledisi. After a six-month spell of writers block following her debut album, Lost & Found, Ledisi goes deeper in her sophomore release, Turn Me Loose, at Yoshi's in San Francisco. Catch her show tonight and tomorrow night at 8 and 10 p.m.

CIRCLE OF LIFE: The dawn of the new year is the perfect time for some cyclical perspective. If you haven't already, see the Circle of Life exhibit by ArtNowSF and 1:AM, a never-ending cycle of discovery and growth with 35 artists. The works on wood circles will be displayed through Jan. 30.
