You may have to do it under palm trees, but since it is Christmas time that means there are lots of ice skating options around the Bay Area that are open seven days a week.
In the City, you can skate along the Embarcadero or in Union Square.
In San Jose, you can skate amid the Christmas in the Park extravaganza downtown and under California palm trees.
In Walnut Creek, you can skate within Civic Park.
And if you are looking for something non-holiday related. How about a musical. Based on the Oscar-winning film, Shrek: The Musical -- replete with singing Donkey -- runs at the Orpheum Theater through Dec. 31. Tickets run $30-$99.
From the release: "In a faraway kingdom turned upside down, things get ugly when an unseemly ogre - not a handsome prince - shows up to rescue a feisty princess. Throw in a donkey who won't shut up, a bad guy with a SHORT temper, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you've got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero."
