This Thursday, the Bay Conservation and Development Commission votes on the Exploratorium's move from the Palace of Fine Arts to piers 15 and 17 on the Embarcadero.
Assuming the vote goes smoothly, Phase I of the Embarcatorium would involve moving existing buildings on the pier (really?) and dredging the ocean floor, while Phase II would involve seismic upgrades on the pier and construction of the actual center, to be open by 2012. [SF Examiner, previously]
