The Chronicle has released its annual list of Bargain Bites. Unlike in years past, it's in the Thursday 96 Hours section instead of its decade-long home in the Sunday edition, but like before, it's basically a compilation of the cheap eats profiled throughout the year. The price range is defined as "the vast majority of entrees are $12 or less" and the full list of 110 restaurants is right here. We'll ignore the omission of In-N-Out, but what we really want to know is why has the Chron suddenly soured on La Taqueria, which until this year was also a fixture on the Top 100 list?
