Benefit on Sunday Revolves Around Sweets

This year's Dessert First benefit is Project Open Hand's 11th annual charitable ode to sugar. The event is a grand tasting featuring pastry chefs and other purveyors of sweets representing dessert-lauded spots such as Farallon, Scala's Bistro, Range, and Humphry Slocombe. The latter collaborated with the non-profit on the Open Hand Fluffer Nutter ice cream flavor using Project Open Hand's own peanut butter and Slocombe's housemade original marshmallow fluff; it's now a regular flavor in rotation in the Mission District parlor. Dessert First takes place on Sunday, August 14 at InterContinental Hotel in San Francisco (888 Howard at Fifth St.); tickets are $75-125 and may be purchased via Eventbrite. [The Feast]
