Blue Sky Black Death Hits 120 Minutes

Party at Elbo Room at Mar. 22

120 Minutes is a monthly SF party tapped into an aesthetic of trap music, bewitchingly darkwave sounds and Gothic vibes. Few epitomize that underground blend like Blue Sky Black Death.

Formerly based in San Francisco but now located in Seattle, BSBD is a duo that has drawn on influences like the RZA, DJ Shadow and Boards of Canada to make epically ornate beats that, according to the title of their 2008 album, sounds like Late Nite Cinema.

Last year, amidst remixing Australian pop star Kimbra (of Gotye’s “Somebody I Used to Know” fame) BSBD released several projects on their website including Skull and Bones, which uses a famous Philippe Halsman photograph of seven nude women in a skull formation.

In February, they dropped Euphoric Tape, which features Bay Area rappers like MondreMan (of Main Attrakionz) and Seattle rappers like Nacho Picasso and Deniro Ferrar.

BSBD will bring Deniro Ferrar to their performance at 120 Minutes at Elbo Room on March 22. Northeast band Child Actor opens.
