Two of San Francisco's beloved music venues will be hibernating for the first half of 2014.
Eater reports that Cafe Du Nord will shutter following the January 4 performance by Fleeting Trance. Sister spot Swedish American Music Hall is now closed.
Ownership of the night spots has changed hands, and a remodel is expected to take at least six months. A known restaurateur is part of the new team, so the comeback is likely to have some new flavor which might include food.
The closure is happening earlier than planned, leaving a small itinerary of shows at both venues that need to take place elsewhere. Sea Wolf will now go down at Great American Music Hall on January 10. Astronauts, Etc. (January 11) and Stick Men (January 23) move to Slim's, and The Maine will play at Bottom of the Hill on January 23.
