Christmas Comes to San Francisco in the Summer

Holiday ice rink coming back to Union Square for an encore performance

Is the summer heat getting to you? Here is something cool to think about: the ice rink at San Francisco’s Union Square is coming back this year.

Last year was the first time in more than a decade San Francisco set up an ice skating rink in the center of its shopping district. The rink was so popular that the City decided to bring it back, the San Francisco Examiner reported.

The rink was smaller than its more well known counterpart on the Embarcadero but it still drew a healthy crowd. The Union Square ice rink will be reopened on Nov. 11 and stay open through Jan. 19, 2010, the paper reported.

The rink will be slightly more expensive this year, with a 90-minute adult session ticket costing $9 and $4 for children. Last year adults paid $8 for a Monday through Friday session.
