City Collge Busted Over Bonds

More trouble for City College: College officials are under investigation for allegedly diverting public funds to a political campaign in order to pass the $246.3 million bond measure in support of the college's not-always-so-popular expansion plan. (See Chinatown Campus debacle for details.) We're sensing a severe lack of strategical planning on the part of the would-be frauds: The college's chancellor, for instance, demanded that a tenant who rented a parking lot on school property to pay his rent directly to the bond campaign's political committee. Likewise for the owners of an on-campus coffee shop. Total revenue, from those two incidents alone: $30K. No tracks to cover there!
