City Releases New Transbay RFPs to Lure Developers

Developers, start your engines and break out your checkbooks. The city redevelopment agency has released a new draft of its request for proposal for the high-density redevelopment of Transbay Block 8 on Folsom Street in Rincon Hill, two blocks south of Transbay Transit Center and smack dab in the middle of the whole project. The deets: the plan is comprised of a 550-foot residential tower and adjacent 50-foot townhouse with market-rate housing, plus two smaller affordable housing developments next door. All told, there will be about 600 residential units, plus more than 700,000 square feet allotted for ground-floor retail. The plan also includes specs for the reconfiguration of the Folsom Street off-ramp, to the tune of $2 mill. Plans for much-tinier Block 11A, with its 100 or so uber-affordable units of housing, were also detailed. Next step: developers bid for the rights to get this thing up by 2015 or so, market allowing.
