Construction Now in Full Swing at Pier Five's Lafitte

Seems like only yesterday that La Mar kicked off the Bloomberg-inspired pier restaurant rejuvenation, but that was all the way back in Fall '08. Since then, Plant Cafe has followed suit, and now at long last, though it's been in the works forever, construction is finally in full swing on the final piece of the puzzle: Russell Jackson's Lafitte. Hiring is already well underway too. To quickly recap, Lafitte is the solo endeavor from Jackson (aka the Dissident Chef) and will encompass 2,100 square feet inside and another 1,300 square feet on an outdoor patio directly on the Embarcadero—see the concrete pouring above. The whole diddy will be designed by architect Michael Guthrie (Myth, Bix).
