Good morning, hardy cable news watchers. If you're not too hungover from last night, you've surely heard a bit about what's passed and what hasn't. Here's Curbed SF's roundup:
Prop A) Slam dunk: The nearly $1 billion bond to squeeze a brand new cylindrical SF General Hospital between two historical buildings was briefly marketed at an auspicious $888 million for the city's Chinese residents. Did it work? Whatever: The new building, which raised some heckles with its proposed helipad, passed 84 percent to 16 percent. Not really a close one.
Prop B) Fail: Oh, snap! By a margin of 1.08 percent, San Franciscans have decided not to set aside a portion of the city budget for affordable housing. Off the top of our heads, we can name a couple of really unhappy people right now.
Prop D) Passed: An apparent no-brainer for voters, the promise of a Ferry Building sibling with 3 million square feet of offices, restaurants, and shops at Pier 70 convinced 68 percent of voters to pull the yes lever. Prop D will allow the use of a percentage of new taxes, i.e. the hotel room kind, to pay off bonds that would fund the project.
Prop R) Fail: 69 percent of people don't want our outgoing president's name on a sewage treatment plant. 'Nuff said.
And we'd be remiss if we didn't mention Prop 1A) Passed: Transit geeks rejoice. The high-speed train between SF and LA is getting $10 billion, thanks to 52.3 percent of voters.
