Impressive Trio of Free Shows

Enjoy psychedelic tunage, experimental beats and dance-worthy jams on the cheap tonight as a trio of impressive gratis shows hit San Francisco tonight. Details on the diverse set of parties set for Public Works, Bottom of the Hill and Clift Hotel below:

Justus Köhncke, Tim Sweeney, Worthy and Solar at Public Works
In celebration of delightfully geeky annual 500 Startups Demo Day, Console.fm, WillCall and LaunchRock are bringing James Murphy-approved tastemaker Tim Sweeney in for an evening of disco, house, post-punk and everything in between -- get a pre-show sample of the genre-bending tastemaker's handiwork via beatsinspace.net. German-based techno and house-tinged minimalist producer Justus Köhncke, Dirtybird's likeminded Worthy and local crate digging vet Solar round out the free party. Be sure to RSVP on Facebook and arrive early to ensure entry. Doors at 10 p.m.

James Pants at The Clift
After a three week break, IAMSOUND's previously highlighted sporadic concert series returns to the swanky Clift Hotel this evening with a gratis set from Stones Throw-signed beatmaking weirdo James Pants. Sample the hip-hop, boogie and disco-indebted FlyLo cohort via this hysterical clip for his 2008 standout "We're Through" and RSVP for the party here. Doors at 8 p.m.

Wooden Shjips and Night Beats at Bottom of the Hill
Spiced rum distiller and occasional concert promoters Sailor Jerry invites local drone-heavy experimentalist Wooden Shjips and rising Seattle-based garage shredders Night Beats this evening for a no cover party. Revisit the Moon Duo-affiliated S.F. vets latest psychedelic jam here and sample the opener's promising new cut "Ain't Dumbo" over at YouTube. Doors are at 8 p.m.; RSVP here.
