Indie Craft Fair Takes Over Hotel Rex for Good Cause

The Hotel Rex was briefly overrun by socially conscious shoppers and music fans last night during the first of what we hope will be many Indie Craft Fairs at the lavish downtown digs. While the event featured a host of home-made crafts, live music from local chillers Electric Sunset and all the cheap booze we could handle, the real star of the party was 826 Valencia, who received a portion of all craft and bar sales. "We already have a great relationship with 826 Valencia," Hotel Rex Sales Manager and event organizer Emily Oestreicher tells The Feast. "When checking in, our guests already have the option of donating a dollar or more to the organization. With the holidays approaching, we thought it would be fun to host this indie craft night fundraiser – it is another way to help out our great non-profit partner, and spread the word about the hotel."

While the details are still be flushing out, Oestreicher tells us that we can expect more hipster-friendly events at the hotel in 2011, including a upcoming film screening at the hotel bar. Be sure to keep an eye on the Rex's facebook page for details.
