Goldsworthy at the Presidio

A new exhibit sheds light on an enigmatic sculpture

Ever wonder what that giant spike in San Francisco's Presidio is all about?

The FOR-SITE Foundation aimed to answer that question with a free exhibit called "Goldsworthy at the Presidio." The exhibit has been extended to run through July 19th.

At the exhibit, visitors can view photos, sketches, video, and a scale replica of the object at the Presidio Officer's Club on the Main Post.

The actual sculpture, titled "Spire," is located on the Bay Area Ridge Trail near the Arguello Gate.

Built in October 2008, "Spire" has been described as "a poetic reference to the forest's past."
