Jello Biafra Throws Incredibly Strange Dance Party

Punk legend DJs at gay bar The Eagle

Two icons of local punk rock history are taking on the role of DJ to share some favorite sounds in San Francisco this week.

Jello Biafra currently fronts a band called the Guantanamo School of Medicine, but is best known for leading the punk group Dead Kennedys and the 34-year-old record label Alternative Tentacles; he also once ran for mayor of San Francisco. He will DJ an "Incredibly Strange Dance Party" on October 10 at gay bar The Eagle, promising "roots of the roots, garage, soul, dementia, surf, funk and a little bit of punk — all obscure, all vinyl."

Jello's guest DJ for the evening will be Jon Ginoli, former guitarist of Pansy Division, a queercore act that followed Dead Kennedys by a decade.

The event runs from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. and the cover charge is $5.
