Michael Cera Set to Share Stage With Supergroup Mister Heavenly Tonight

We already knew Cafe Du Nord had a big one lined up for us tonight with the San Francsico debut of Mister Heavenly. The recent Sub Pop signees prominently features members from The Unicorns, Islands, Man/Man, Modest Mouse and The Shins, arguably making them the closest thing to a supergroup in the indie world. How could a band with this type of pedigree get any more indie nerd cred? Well, by adding the ultimate celebrity indie nerd.

As Pitchfork reported yesterday, the doom-wop trio surprised just about everyone at their live debut when none other than Michael Cera joined them on stage, handling bass duty for the band the entire evening. And get this – apparently the dude (relatively) shreds, and even dabbles with stage banter. While we have yet to confirm whether or not the 'Arrested Development' and 'Juno' star will be a full-time fixture in the band, a Sub Pop representative did tell The Feast that Cera was expected to join the band for the remainder of their West Coast tour.

Mister Heavenly plays Cafe Du Nord tonight with Jel and High Winds. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door; doors at 8pm.
